Datasets include raw and processed data for SMPS measurements, subsurface bubble, and surface bubble characterization. SMPS data: raw .csv files for sodium acetate and artificial seawater are given. The processed files include .mat files and .xls files that list the salinity, number concentration, measured diameter (where applicable), dry diameter, and formation diameter. The processed files include data from several other publications that investigated the effect of salinity on aerosol production. Subsurface bubble data: raw .jpg files for 0.001 and 0.1 M sodium acetate, and 0.12 and 0.6 M artificial seawater. Processed files include .mat and .xls files for the counted number of bubbles in each image frame. Surface bubble data: raw .jpg files for 0.001 and 0.001 M sodium acetate, as well as 0.12 and 0.6M artificial seawater. Processed files include .mat and .xls files for the size of the surface bubble at burst and the frequency of bursting.en_US
This dataset was created from laboratory experiments investigating the effect of salinity on submicron aerosol production. Bubbles generated in solutions of sodium acetate and artificial seawater were tested with corresponding measurements of the submicron aerosol size distribution. The bubbling below and above the surface of the liquid are imaged.en_US
