dc.description.abstract | Artist Bio: Maria Georgakarakou was born in Greece and studied voice and harpsichord in Athens. In 1997 she came to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship, earning a master's degree in Early Music at the Longy School of Music. At the time of this recording she was a doctoral candidate in Historical Musicology at Boston University [PhD, 2015]. Maria performs regularly in the US and Greece, including Boston First Night, Boston Early Music Fesitval Fringe Concerts, and the Athens Early Music Festival.
